About me…
Raised in the in the Cotswold countryside, near Stroud, my first encounter of an author was chats over the garden wall between my father and Mrs Cooper, from the neighbouring village of Bisley. It came as quite a surprise in later life to find that Mrs Cooper was, in fact, Jilly Cooper. My writing inspiration now comes from other Cotswolds authors including Jill Mansell and Katie Fforde, as well as great saga writers, Maeve Binchy and Maureen Lee.
My novels to date are contemporary women’s fiction with a light-hearted tone. What interests me most is people; their interactions, emotions and relationships, which is what led to me training to become a Psychodynamic Counsellor. I am passionate about mental health matters and believe that when it is hard to find or speak thoughts and feelings, the medium of writing can become an effective tool for accessing unconscious processes and promoting and supporting mental wellbeing. I’m a graduate of the Romantic Novelists’ Association New Writers’ Scheme and must attribute this supportive and informative programme to the achievements in my writing career to date, including my debut novel, Meet Me at Number Five. If you are an aspiring romantic novelist, I can’t advocate this service enough.
