My responsibilities to you:

As a member of Lapidus, and insured by their underwriters, I am expected to practice under the following guidelines:

  • Provide good standards of practice and care delivered with professional competence, appropriate support, and accountability; maintain good relationships with clients and colleagues; and demonstrate a commitment to and observance of professional ethics.
  • Acknowledge and respect human rights and dignity and to conduct themselves in such a way that they promote equal opportunities for all.
  • Appreciate and acknowledge the variety of human experience and culture.
  • Take responsibility for providing the best possible services to their clients in order to promote well-being and to act in such a way as to cause no harm to any clients.
  • Make contracts with clients which are explicit about the nature (e.g. therapeutic, training, supervisory, personal growth) and costs of the work and the qualifications and experience of the practitioner. Ensure the rights and responsibilities of both parties are agreed.
  • Take responsibility for being aware of the context in which they are employed to work and follow the ethical guidelines and demonstrate good practice accordingly.
  • Provide and operate services to clients in compliance with the laws of the country in which they reside.
  • To speak or write (in their public statements) with respect and with the intention of demonstrating their own professional integrity and the professional standing of the organisation.
  • Take responsibility for their own health and well-being and ongoing training and continuing professional development in order to practise safely. This includes regularly monitoring and reflecting on their work.
  • To behave in a way which does not exploit a client in any manner, including, but not limited to financial and sexual matters.

Please note that although many forms of writing can have a therapeutic effect, what I offer is NOT therapeutic writing, counselling, or psychotherapy. If any of our work together brings about feelings, thoughts or fears which may require further support, I will direct you to appropriate services in your locality and nationally. • Be informed about how your data is being used.
  • Access personal data.
  • Have incorrect data erased.
  • Stop or restrict the processing of your data.
  • Data portability (allowing you to get and reuse your data for different services).

Provision

All writing tutoring is offered online, at a mutually agreed time either via Zoom or Microsoft Teams.

The information collected and stored by me relates to the tutoring documentation (i.e. contact form or email) and payment contact details (if paying via Paypal). I will need to hold/store this information for 7 years under GDPR. All information is stored digitally and securely on a personal cloud network which is not shared with any 3rd party.

Confidentiality

Anything disclosed by you in our tutoring sessions concerning identity and personal details will not be shared by me with any 3rd party. This is promised except for any matters relating to risk to you or others which may result in safeguarding protocols. Any identified risk will be raised by me, with you, in the first instance.

Your responsibilities to me:

Equipment

You will require access to a computer, laptop or tablet which can operate either Zoom or Microsoft Teams Platform. You will require a quiet, indoor space, with privacy, i.e. away from others and without interruption, for the duration of tutorial sessions. Paper and a pen will be required for writing exercises. Handouts and course materials will be emailed, so access to a printer would be beneficial but not essential.

Payment

Payment for session(s) will be invoiced prior to commencing and is expected to be settled prior to commencement of the session(s). I offer payment via bank transfer or Paypal (details will be sent to you).

Cancellations

Course dates and time will be mutually agreed between you and I, for all sessions dates. If, for any reason, you cannot make the agreed date and time I will work with you to try and make-up the session or aim to offer to extend past the agreed end date of the course. However, if this extends beyond 3 months I am not under obligation to try and make-up the lost session(s).
